Slow Lane Campers Rental Information

Prior to completion of your booking, you must confirm that you have read and understood these Terms being our General Terms and Conditions. At the time you pick up the camper, all drivers must sign and confirm that they have read and understood this document.

1. Hire rates quoted include:

Unlimited miles
UK standard campervan insurance*
UK Standard equipment & breakdown
*Insurance loading. In some cases, our insurance company will impose additional charges if the driver to be insured has a traffic conviction, or is in an occupation which is deemed high risk. These charges will be passed on to the customers. We are unable to offer insurance to non-UK residents, or those without a full UK driving licence

2. Insurance Standard excess.

The above rate includes a standard excess of GB£500. In the event of any damage to either the campervan or third party property, the hirer will be liable for the first GB£500. The hirer will also be fully liable for replacement or repair of windscreen or tyre damage.

The following are not covered by insurance - Loss, damages or expenses due to

theft of personal effects from the Vehicle;
cigarette or cigar burns (or equivalent) to the Vehicle;
putting incorrect fuel in the Vehicle;
theft or damage due to negligence;
violation of UK traffic laws;
damage to the underside of the Vehicle;
any deliberate or wilful act;
driving on unpaved roads or abroad;
fire caused by cooking, candles or any naked flames.
damage caused by pets.
You will be responsible for any costs incurred in connection with any loss or damage caused by any of the above.

3. Insurance Excess Reduction

Slow Lane Campers do not offer Insurance Excess Reduction, we are unable to get a good price for you. You are advised to check out one of the many companies who offer this eg "the AA"

4. Insurance Exclusions

- The hirer will however be fully liable for replacement or repair to windscreen or tyre damage, or damage due to negligence (eg failure to check oil level etc).

4. Security Deposit

There is a refundable GB£500.00 Security Deposit payable by cash or credit card. Should the security deposit be paid by credit card, the amount will be debited from your account immediately. This is fully refundable on return of the campervan to the agreed location, on the agreed date and time, in the same condition as it was let out to you, the interior clean including all cooking appliances and the tank full of fuel.

5. European Travel

We regret we cannot hire our campers for European Travel.

6. Ireland Travel

Travel into Ireland is classed as European travel by the AA and our insurance company, so regrettably our campers cannot travel into Ireland.

7. Extras

Extra Bedding
(quilt/pillow/towel) £20.00 per person (per rental) available
Additional driver
£5.00 per person per day (this charge for a driving licence with no penalties)
All additional drivers must be present at the time of collection of the Vehicle.

8. Minimum Hire

in high season is 7 nights. Please check with Slow Lane Campers for special deals at low season.

9. Drivers

Age limits: 25 to 70 years - Drivers outside of these age restrictions may be insured as named drivers at the insurers discression.
Every driver must hold a full (not provisional) driving license that has been valid for at least two years. All licenses must be for manual transmission vehicles.
Details of additional drivers required.
Production of valid standard driver's license required from all drivers at start of hire. Both parts of a photo licence are required
Drivers are personally liable for all legal penalties (eg: parking tickets, London congestion charges etc) which are incurred during the period of hire.
Maximum of 3 drivers per rental
All Drivers must provide 2 separate forms of identification. i.e. credit card and passport
The Main Driver must also produce two utility bills (less than 2 months old)

We are unable to Insure:
  • Drivers with more than 6 penalty points on their current driving license
  • Drivers who have any mental or physical defect or infirmity that affects the ability to drive
  • Drivers who have had their insurance declined and/or renewal refused and/or special insurance terms imposed as a result of claims experience and/or have had their insurance or cover cancelled by any motor insurer
  • Persons engaged wholly or partially in professional entertainment or professional sports persons.
  • Persons who, whilst driving, have been involved in more than one accident during the past three years.

    10. Depot

    Address: 14 Meadows Road, Heaton Chapel, Stockport, SK4 5DN
    hours: The Depot can only be visited by prior appointment.

    11. Fuel

    You must return the camper with a full tank of fuel at the end of your rental. If not, the cost of refueling the camper will be deducted from the Deposit. The type of fuel used by the camper is stated on the camper's instruction booklet. You are responsible and liable for any damage caused by the use of the in correct fuel.

    12. One way rentals

    Not permitted

    13. Payment

    Availability is on a request and confirm basis at the time of reservation. A reservation is only binding after it has been confirmed by Slow Lane Campers and a non-returnable deposit has been received. Settlement of the remaining balance will be due six weeks prior to departure. Booking deposits are not transferrable to alternative hire dates.
    Payment is by credit card (Visa or Mastercard), debit cards or cheque in Pounds Sterling.
    For late bookings (less than six weeks before departure) the full rental price is payable on booking. Campers will not be released without full payment being completed. Cheques will not be acceptable for bookings less than 2 weeks prior to departure.
    Cards we accept: Visa,Visa - Electron, Visa Debit, Mastercard, Maestro or Solo

    15. Cancellation Charges

    More than 6 weeks before rental start date: (Booking Deposit)
    Within 6 weeks of rental start date: 100% of total hire charge payable
    In the event of cancellation, booking deposits are not transferrable to alternative hire dates.
    Please ensure you have your own holiday insurance in place to cover the costs if for any reason you have to cancel your reservation.

    16. Collection & Return


    Collection: Please allow 1 hour for the hand-over at the depot - to complete the documentation, to demonstrate the camper to you and to transfer your luggage to the camper. Please allow the same on your return.
    Return: The campervan must be returned on the date, and at or before the time stated on the rental agreement. Campers must be returned clean and in the same condition as they leave the depot, otherwise a charge will be made.
    Late return: If you will be late returning, the rental company must be advised immediately. Failure to advise may result in prosecution for driving whilst uninsured. An additional charge of £50 per hour will be payable for all late returns.

    17. Smoking

    Smoking is not permitted in any of our Campers.

    18. Fines and Penalties

    You are responsible for the cost of any parking or speeding fines or other penalties incurred during the hire. Should such fines or penalties be incurred we will pass the relevant charge on to you and will charge an administrative fee of \24325 per fine or penalty.

    Cleaning Fee

    Our `Bring it back clean' policy is designed to reduce customer costs. You must bring the Campervan back clean. The whole camper must be clear of litter. The ashtray must be clean. The floors, doors and upholstery must be clean (for example, with no mud stains).
    If you do not return the campervan clean, then a cleaning fee of \24350 will be deducted from the Deposit.

    Daily Vehicle Check

    The camper will be provided to you in a roadworthy condition. During your rental period, you are responsible for ensuring that the camper's tyres air pressure levels are maintained within the manufacturer's recommended levels. Also that the oil level is checked on a regular basis and kept at a satisfactory level.

    Incidents


    In case of an Accident/Theft you must:
    Inform the Police immediately and obtain an Incident or Crime Number.
    Obtain names, addresses, contact telephone numbers of all third parties involved in the Incident and the registration numbers of all third parties and immediately report the Incident by telephone to us within 24 hours.
    Upon receipt, immediately send us any letter from any third party, any written summons or any other documents relating to court proceedings.
    Provide all reasonable assistance to us or our agents and insurers in dealing with any subsequent proceedings including allowing Court actions to be taken in your name and defending any proceedings taken against us.
    At the time of any Incident, which has involved the camper and a third party, make no admission of liability to any persons.
    You agree to make good (and if necessary pay us for) any and all damage or loss sustained to the Camper, or any third party during your rental in the event that you:
    Fail to ensure that all Incidents are reported by telephone to us within 24 hours of the Incident occurring.
    Use the camper for any purpose other than that for which it was legitimately supplied to you.
    Use the camper to participate in any illegal activity.
    Fail to take reasonable care of the camper (for example, leaving it unlocked and unattended or leaving valuables in the campervan).
    Depending on the circumstances, we reserve the right not to replace the campervan.

    Cancellation

    We reserve the right to cancel a booking at any time. If we cancel your booking and there is no fault or omission on your part then all deposits paid will be refunded in full.

    Camper Availability

    Due to unforseen circumstances it may not always be possible to provide you with the camper you have booked, and Slow Lane Campers will endeavour, to provide a comparable or superior campervan.


    SLOW LANE CAMPERS TERMS AND CONDITIONS

    1. Definitions of Terms and Conditions

    'I','me' and 'my' refers jointly and severally to the person or persons who are the customers.' This Agreement' means the Rental Agreement, the Insurance Motor Rental Agreement and these Terms and Conditions. In the event of any discrepancy between these Terms and Conditions and any other Slow Lane Campers literature, the provisions of these Terms and Conditions apply
    'Slow Lane Campers' means Slow Lane Campers Ltd owned by Anthony Williams & Audrey Szabo of 14 Meadows Road, Heaton Chapel, Stockport, SK4 5DN
    'Customer' means the person or persons nominated as the hirer under the heading 'Hire Details' on the Insurance Motor Rental Agreement and any person whose credit card is presented in payment of the customer's charges.
    'Living Equipment' Includes but is not limited to CD player, crockery, cutlery, cooking utensils, pillows, sheets and towels.
    'Rental Period' Means the hire period referred to under the heading 'Booking Details' on the Rental Agreement or any agreed variation thereof and any additional period during which the vehicle is in the customer's possession or control
    'Vehicle','Campervan','Camper','motorhome' Means the vehicle described under the heading 'Vehicle Details' on the Rental Agreement and includes tyres, tools, accessories, the living equipment and any other special equipment, documents related to the Vehicle and any replacement or substitute Vehicle which may be provided at the discretion of Slow Lane Campers.
    'Security Deposit' Means the Vehicle security deposit detailed under the heading 'Vehicle Security Deposit' in the Insurance Motor Rental Agreement.

    2. Delivery and Return of the Camper

    I acknowledge having received the Camper in a clean condition and in sound working order in accordance with the Departure Checklist and with a full fuel tank and two full gas bottles
    I will return the campervan in a clean condition with a full fuel tank, on the return date and time set out under the heading 'Check in' in the Rental Agreement.

    I acknowledge that Slow Lane Campers will not refund to me any monies, nor have any obligation to provide a replacement campervan, if the campervan is returned or I cease to have the use of the campervan prior to the return date for any reason e.g. Accident, weather or theft.

    3. Rental and Other Charges

    I will pay Slow Lane Campers
    • All rental charges
    • The security deposit
    • The nominated valeting fee of £50 if the camper is not returned with the interior in a clean condition;
    • The nominated cancellation fee in the event of cancellation of this agreement prior to the hire
    • The cost of any damage to the camper or the property of any third party, subject to the insurance cover
    • All Government fees and duties etc
    • All parking fines, other fines or penalties, and/or accidents including third party property damage not reported on return of the camper, and associated administration costs incurred in relation to the camper during the rental period.
    • Any other fees or charges payable by me pursuant to this Agreement. This includes any costs incurred by Slow Lane Campers as a result of any breach by me of the terms of this Agreement
    • The daily rental rate for the period the Vehicle is off fleet for accident repairs (demurrage);
    the cost to recover a Vehicle which has become bogged.

    4. Errors in Rental Charges

    Total charges as set out therein are not final. I will pay any shortfall in charges to Slow Lane Campers and I will receive a refund for any overcharge acknowledged by Slow Lane Campers;

    5. Payment of Charges

    Joint and Several Liability All charges and expenses payable by me under this Agreement are due on demand by Slow Lane Campers . If I do not pay all charges when due, I agree to pay a late charge of 1.5% per month on the outstanding balance and any collection costs incurred by Slow Lane Campers, including reasonable legal fees. When the Customer comprises of more than one person, each person is liable jointly and severally for all obligations of the customer pursuant to this Agreement.

    6. Credit Card Payment

    Slow Lane Campers will accept payment by credit cards approved by Slow Lane Campers.
    When payment is paid by credit card, I agree that;
    a) Slow Lane Campers is irrevocably authorised to complete any documentation and to take any other action to recover from my credit card issuer all amounts due by me pursuant to this Agreement, including but not limited to, any amounts due in respect to damage to the Camper or to property of a third party and all other additional charges as they are incurred (including all parking and traffic infringement penalties, road toll fines, London congestion charges, and associated administration costs);
    b) I will not dispute my liability to Slow Lane Campers for any amount due under this agreement and I shall indemnify and keep indemnified Slow Lane Campers against any loss incurred (including legal costs) by reason of notifying my credit card issuer of such dispute.
    c) Slow Lane Campers may process the credit card voucher; in the event that Slow Lane Campers elects to accept payment of the Security Deposit by holding an open security payment which will be cancelled at the completion of the Rental Period, I agree that Slow Lane Campers is entitled to recover payment from my credit card issuer pursuant to paragraph (a) in respect of any amounts due which were not known at the time of cancelling the open security payment.
    d) I acknowledge that all transactions under this agreement are conducted in Pounds Sterling. Due to exchange rate fluctuations, there could be some variance between the amount initially debited against my credit card and the amount refunded within 7 days after the expiration of the rental period. I release Slow Lane Campers from any liability for such variation.

    7. My Warranties

    I warrant that all information supplied by me to Slow Lane Campers in connection with this agreement is true.

    8. Vehicle Damage

    - Insurance Cover I am aware that;
    a) The Vehicle is insured for damage to the Vehicle and the property of a third party;
    b) I will have to pay an excess for any damage. The insurance excess is £500.00
    d) I will not have any insurance cover and I will be responsible for the total cost of any damage if I breach any of the terms of the insurance contract

    9. Security Deposit

    a) On taking delivery of the Vehicle, I agree to pay the Security Deposit.
    b) I irrevocably authorise Slow Lane Campers to deduct from the Security Deposit any amounts due by me to Slow Lane Campers arising out of this Agreement.
    c) The security deposit will be refunded by cheque within 7 working days of the camper being returned to the correct location, undamaged, with a clean interior with a full fuel tank. We reserve the right to retain a £50.00 soiling fee if the camper is not returned with the interior in a clean condition.

    10. Road Restrictions

    a) All Vehicles may only be driven on sealed / bitumen roads.
    b) I acknowledge that Slow Lane Campers reserves the right at any time, at its sole discretion, to restrict movements in certain areas due to adverse road or weather conditions or any other reasonable cause

    11. Use of the Vehicle

    I agree that during the rental period, I will not and will not allow the Vehicle to be;
    a) driven otherwise than in a cautious, prudent and normal manner;
    b) used in a manner which could cause damage
    c) driven in a prohibited area or in an area other than the areas indicated by me to Slow Lane Campers;
    d) driven by a person under the influence of alcohol or drugs or with a blood alcohol level in excess of that permitted by law;
    e) Left with the ignition key in the vehicle while it is unoccupied
    f) Left unoccupied without the CD faceplate removed, steering wheel security lock applied and all valuables out of sight.
    g) Driven by persons:
    i) Under the age of 25 years; or
    ii) Who is not authorised by law to drive the Vehicle. Particulars of a proposed licensed driver of the Vehicle are set out under the heading 'Driver Details' in the Motor Rental Agreement.
    h) Damaged by:
    i) Submersion in water
    ii) Contact with Salt Water
    i) used for any illegal purpose for any race, rally or contest
    j) used to tow any vehicle or trailer.
    k) used to carry passengers or property for hire or reward
    l) used to carry more than 4 persons
    m) used to carry volatile liquids, gases, explosives or other corrosive or inflammable material
    n) otherwise used in breach of my obligations under this Agreement.
    o) used for the carriage of chemicals or dangerous goods
    p) used for driving instruction

    12. Alterations to the Camper

    I shall not make any alterations or additions to the Camper without the prior written consent of Slow Lane Campers.

    13. Pets

    I will not allow any animals to be carried in the rental camper unless approved by Slow Lane Campers in writing before travel. I acknowledge that any damage repair costs or extra valeting costs caused because of, or by a pet travelling in the camper must be paid for in full by myself.

    14. Passengers

    Slow Lane Campers authorises the use of these campers up to the stated number of passengers. Each person to use the safety restraints provided at all times whilst vehicle is in motion.

    15. Maintenance

    I shall take all reasonable steps to properly maintain the Camper, including oil checks and batteries.
    I acknowledge that Slow Lane Campers will reimburse me for expenditure reasonably incurred in rectifying any mechanical failure to the drive train and engine of the Camper ( not including the water system, refrigerator, heating, audio and DVD equipment ) Provided That:
    I produce relevant receipts:; and
    I have received the prior consent of Slow Lane Campers;
    The damage is not due to my fault or my breach of this Agreement.
    Subject to the terms of this agreement, I will pay for the cost of repairing or replacing tyres damaged during the Rental Period PROVIDED THAT Slow Lane Campers will reimburse me for expenditure reasonably incurred if;
    I produce relevant receipts;
    The tyre is defective and is returned by me to Slow Lane Campers for inspection; and
    The manufacturer accepts liability under his warranty,
    I will be liable for any costs associated with the incorrect use of fuel (diesel instead of unleaded petrol )

    16. Responsibility

    In the event of any accident, loss or damage arising out of the use of the vehicle, I will:
    Notify Slow Lane Campers within 24hrs of the happening of the event;
    Obtain the names and addresses of third parties and any witnesses and report the event to the nearest police station;
    Complete a accident report form as supplied;
    Not make any admission of liability to other parties, settlement offer or other like offer;
    Assist Slow Lane Campers in handling any claim arising from any event, including providing all relevant information and attending Court to give evidence.
    I acknowledge that the excess or other amount due by me in respect of any damage arising from an accident, loss or damage is payable at the time of reporting the event and not at the completion of the rental period.
    I will pay for any costs relating to the delivery of a change over vehicle as a result of an accident regardless of which party is at fault.

    17. Terminating the Agreement

    I acknowledge that Slow Lane Campers may terminate this Agreement and repossess the Camper at any time, without notification to me, and that I will pay the reasonable costs of repossessing the Camper, including towing charges if;
    a) I am in breach of any term of this Agreement;
    b) I have obtained the Camper through fraud or misrepresentation;
    c) The Camper appears to be abandoned
    d) The Camper is not returned on the agreed return date or Slow Lane Campers reasonably believes that the camper will not be returned on the agreed return date;
    e) Slow Lane Campers considers on reasonable grounds, that the safety of passengers or the condition of the camper is endangered. I understand that in the event of such termination or repossession, I have no right to a refund of any part of the rental charges or the Security Deposit

    18. Change of Camper

    Slow Lane Campers reserves the right, at its absolute discretion, to substitute a comparable or superior campervan for the Camper. In that event, I shall not be liable for any increased rental or other charges save for any addition running costs pertaining to the substitute camper. Such substitution shall not entitle me to any refund and does not constitute a breach of this Agreement.

    19. Release and Indemnity of Slow Lane Campers

    Subject to its obligation to deliver the Camper or an appropriate substitute Campervan, I release Slow Lane Campers, its employees and agents, from any liability to me (regardless of who is at fault) for any loss or damage incurred by me by reason of this Agreement, including but not limited to:
    Any loss or damage caused by breakdown, mechanical defect, accident or the Camper being unsuitable for my purpose;
    Any loss or damage to any property left in or on the Camper, in any service vehicle or on any Slow Lane Campers premises or recovered or handled by Slow Lane Campers.
    Subject to any insurance arrangements agreed with Slow Lane Campers, I hereby indemnify and shall keep indemnified Slow Lane Campers, its employees and agents against any claims, demands and expenses (including legal costs) incurred or sustained by them or any of them by reason of my use and/or possession of the Vehicle

    20. Title to Vehicle

    I acknowledge that Slow Lane Campers retains title to the Vehicle and that I possess the goods as a mere bailee only. I do not have any right to pledge Slow Lane Campers’s credit in connection with the Vehicle and agree not to do so. I shall not agree, attempt, offer or purport to sell, assign, sublet, lend, pledge, mortgage, let on hire, or otherwise part with or attempt to part with the personal possession of or otherwise deal with the Vehicle.

    21. Changes

    Any changes to this agreement must be in writing and must be signed on behalf of Slow Lane Campers and by me.

    22. Proper Law

    This agreement shall be governed by the law of Great Britain in which this agreement was signed.

    23. Entire Agreement

    This Agreement , constitutes the entire agreement of the parties and there are no other oral undertakings, warranties or agreements between the parties relating to the subject matter of this agreement. Slow Lane Campers reserves the right to add or amend any rental charges without prior notice.
